general information

Personal Belongings

Pop in Kids Club prides ourselves on providing a fun, engaging, and stimulating age-appropriate environment for each child in our care. We do not allow children to bring their own personal belongings into the facility. Children are welcome to leave their personal items with their family or store them in cubbies with their personal items.

Children are required to place all personal items, including, but not limited to jackets, electronics, and pre-made meals into an assigned cubby that can be retrieved at the end of their session. Jackets are retrieved by a teacher if they’re required for outdoor activities.

Public School Breaks

When school is out, Pop in Kids Club is in session! When it’s spring, summer, or winter break, we have camps that your children can attend to have a fun way to spend the break or holiday.

Diapering & Toilet Training

Children in diapers who are not toilet trained are welcome at Pop in Kids Club. Diapers and wipes are provided at no additional cost. Diapers are changed every two hours, or immediately, if soiled.

Accidents happen… especially during toilet training. Although we do not provide toilet-training services, we do encourage kids in the process.

Let us know if your child is toilet trained so we can remind them to use the toilet. A toilet-trained child should be able to communicate their need to use the bathroom. Children are required to remain in diapers or pull-ups until fully toilet trained.

Rest and Quiet Time

Kids need to recharge by getting rest. We provide daily opportunities to nap early in the afternoon on weekdays, usually between 12:30 to 2PM. Children just arriving are not required to nap unless it is their regular naptime. Parent/guardians provide a sheet and blanket and Pop in Kids Club provides the mats for children to rest and sleep on.

If the child is not sleeping after 30 minutes of resting, the child will be allowed to resume taking part in the quiet activities being offered at the time.

Quiet time beings at 9PM, every day. Children may rest in front of a G-rated movie, listen to soft music, or read/listen to a storybook. During quiet time, Pop in Kids Club will allow a child to sleep and does not force a child to remain awake.

Positive Guidance

Children are children, and sometimes positive guidance is necessary to help guide them away from inappropriate behavior. We have set clear rules with your children to encourage and demonstrate kindness and respect, while fostering a positive and supportive environment.

We encourage positive reinforcement, redirection, open dialogue, and separation from group activities in more extreme instances.

Our staff is forbidden to use corporal punishment and complies with state guidelines. We ask that, while at Pop in Kids Club, you refrain from using any form of guidance that is not consistent with Pop in Kids Club’s standards..

Outdoor Activities

Children may play outdoors in our fenced in playground when the conditions do not pose a safety risk, individual health risk, or significant health risk of frostbite or of heat-related illness. Weather that poses a significant health risk includes wind chill factor at or below 35 degrees Fahrenheit and a heat index at or above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

On sunny days, sunscreen should be applied by parents prior to coming to Pop in Kids Club. If sunscreen must be applied by a staff member, a permission slip must be filled out by a parent/guardian. Sunscreen is to be provided by the parent/guardian.

Inclement Weather

Pop in Kids Club follows the Downingtown Area School District for closings, delays, and early closings.

If DASD has a two-hour delay, we operate on a two-hour delay from our opening time of 7AM Monday to Friday. It is left to the discretion of Pop in Kids Club whether to open, open on a delay, or close early on Friday evenings through Sunday.

Families can utilize our SmartCare app, website, and Facebook page for updates as well as calling in for an updated voicemail message. Please be aware of our status before heading to the center

Transportation

Pop in Kids Club does not currently provide any transportation options for children. Please note that Pop in Kids Club staff members do not provide transportation for your child under any circumstances. Local school districts are unable to bus children to Pop in Kids Club’s due to our location.
